Ordering food in the evening in Yenagoa: order times and how to plan

Making an evening delivery easy for the rider

The single biggest thing you can do is remove uncertainty at the door.

1. Drop your location pin and type a landmark that is easy to spot as the light fades: a shop, a filling station, a junction, a gate with a security light. "The pharmacy on the corner" beats "the blue building".
2. Say where you will be. Stand at the gate or the front of the compound with your phone lit. If your building has a guard, tell the guard to expect the delivery.
3. Keep your phone charged, on and answering. An unanswered call is the quickest way to end up with a cold meal.
4. Keep your door closed until you can see who is there. Check the rider's name or order number against the app.
5. Avoid giving your full address in a public place and do not share your location with anyone who is not part of the order.

None of this is special to Yenagoa. It is what sensible people do in every city in the evening. But it is worth writing down because one missed call is enough to spoil a delivery.

Paying in the evening

• If you pay by transfer, confirm inside the app before you assume the order is placed. If your bank app is slow or unavailable, check the app before you pay a second time.
• Look at the total. Check that every charge is shown before you pay.

When it rains

The Niger Delta gets a great deal of rain, and rain slows a delivery at any hour. You do not need to cancel; you do need to be more patient, and to be reachable. Order a little earlier than you normally would so the delivery still falls inside the delivery window.

Check the other restaurants that are open. Search by dish rather than restaurant name: a search for "rice" or "pepper soup" will show whoever is open and serving. If nothing is open, you will at least know quickly, and you can plan tomorrow's order for earlier in the day.
